How to Apply for a Visa (at the embassy in Kenya)


1. Gather the Required Documents

  • Passport: Valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay, with at least 2 blank pages.

  • Visa Application Form: Completed and signed.(found on the portal shared below)

  • 2 Photos: Recent passport-size photos (meeting passport requirements).

  • Purpose of Travel:

    • Invitation from the event host

    • Proof of enrollment/participation (conference, festival, exchange, workshop, etc.).

  • Financial Means: Bank statements or sponsor's support letter proving sufficient funds for your stay.

  • Accommodation: Hotel booking, hostel reservation, or invitation from a host.

  • Travel Insurance: Valid medical insurance covering your entire stay.

  • Going and Onward Travel: Confirmed return flight ticket.

2. Apply Online via the eVisa Portal

  • Visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs eVisa Portal

  • Complete the visa application form online.

  • Choose the visa type (in your case, Cultural Visa – short stay).

  • Fill out the Cultural Visa application form.

  • Upload all required documents.

  • At the end, the system will generate your filled form( you can download and print it to bring to your embassy appointment.)

  • Monitor your application status and receive feedback from consular staff online.

3. Embassy Appointment in Kenya

  • Once your online submission is pre-approved, schedule an appointment through the portal.

  • Go to the Romanian Embassy or Consulate in Kenya on your scheduled date.

  • Present all original documents for verification.

  • Your application will then be officially registered.

4. Await Visa Decision

  • Processing times may vary.

  • You will be notified of the outcome.

  • If approved, you will receive your visa allowing you to travel.
