Bachelor of International Relations and Business (BIRB) Study Plan

The Bachelor of International Relations and Business (BIRB) program provides students with a strong foundation in global politics, diplomacy, economics, and modern business practices. The program prepares graduates to operate confidently within international organizations, global companies, NGOs, and diplomatic environments.

The full degree accounts for 180 ECTS credits under the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), equivalent to three academic years of full-time study.

Program Structure

Year 1: Foundations of International Relations and Business

The first year focuses on providing essential theoretical knowledge in diplomacy, global political systems, macroeconomics, international business fundamentals, negotiation, and cultural communication.

Students are expected to study independently with access to academic materials and guided structure.

Year 2: Applied International Studies and Global Business Practice

In the second year, students move into more applied subjects, strengthening analytical and professional skills. Courses may include international law, foreign policy analysis, geopolitics, international marketing, trade relations, and regional studies.

Students also explore practical case studies involving multinational companies, intergovernmental organizations, and global economic events. This year aims to build the ability to connect theory with real-world international challenges.

Year 3: Advanced Topics, Research, and Thesis (Last 6 Months Reserved)

The third year combines advanced studies with independent research leading to the bachelor thesis.

After completing the required readings and passing the online exams, students must send three thesis topic ideas to info@scac.dk:

  • 1st topic – your main and preferred research topic

  • 2nd topic – your alternative

  • 3rd topic – your least preferred but still acceptable idea

You will receive approval or guidance from info@scac.dk, after which your official thesis development begins.

Guidance and Thesis Writing Process

Professor Support

Each student is assigned a professor who provides corrections and academic guidance on the thesis. A video call may be arranged to support distance learners or scheduling needs.
This correction meeting takes place only after the student has completed and submitted the thesis draft, which must be done after 5 months of research and writing.
This process ensures that students can refine and perfect their thesis before graduation.

Thesis Timeline

Once your thesis topic is officially approved:

  1. You will spend 5 months writing, researching, organizing data, and refining your thesis.

  2. After these 5 months, your professor will review the full thesis draft.

  3. The professor will provide feedback on necessary corrections, improvements, or structural adjustments required before the final submission.

This structure supports independent academic development while ensuring strong professional oversight.

Assessment and Communication

Students are assessed through online exams, coursework, practical assignments, and the final bachelor thesis.
